Lesen: caught reading

At Jan-Amos-Comenius, our afterschool “Caught Reading” activities revolve around fostering a love of reading in students.

In order to promote reading, we encourage students to design book posters- posters displaying students’ favorite books. The posters are then displayed next to the GTB room to encourage other students to read the same books.

Another aspect of our “Caught Reading” program involves reading an English book aloud twice a week. Students can come listen to one of our GTB staff members read and discuss a book.

The purpose of this activity is to interest students in books, expose students to new books, foster book discussions, practice students’ English listening skills, and, of course, to have fun. So far we have read Origami Yoda and a few books from the Mr. Men series.
