What on Earth is the Ganztagsbetreuung? There is no word for it in English, which is why we just call it the GTB. In German it is often confused with Hort, but that is not what we are either. Now you are really confused right? Have a look at a day in the GTB
Tagesablauf in Schule und Ganztagsbetreuung/Daily schedule
7.30–8.30 Uhr
Frühbetreuung/before school care
8.30–16.00 Uhr Kernzeit Unterricht und Betreuung/instructional day and school care
30 Minuten Frühstückspause und 75–90 Minuten Mittagspause inklusive/30 minute morning recess with snack and 75–90 minute lunch and recess
Ab 16.00–18.30 Uhr
Nachmittagsbetreuung mit Snack, Angebote, Free-Play, Instrumentalunterricht und Sprachunterricht/
After school care with snack, after school offerings, free play, instrumental lessons, and foreign/second language lessons
Ganztagsbetreuung der Schulkinder/Round the clock care and supervision of our pupils
Das Team der Ganztagsbetreuung und die Lehrkräfte der Schule arbeiten Hand in Hand. Gemeinsam begleiten wir alle Ihre Kinder durch den Tag. Das Team der Ganztagsbetreuung unterstützt den Unterricht in differenzierenden Maßnahmen und betreut Ihre Kinder während der Frühstückspausen. Das Mittagessen nehmen die Kinder mit ihren Lehrern zusammen ein. Die anschließende Mittagspause auf dem Spielplatz wird von dem Team der Ganztagsbetreuung sowie den Lehrkräften begleitet.
Our GTB personnel and our classroom teachers work closely together. As a team they work with all of your children throughout the day. The GTB personnel serve as teachers aides (actually, many of them are trained teachers in their native countries) during instruction, and they accompany the children during the morning recess. The children eat lunch with their classroom teachers. Following lunch both GTB and teachers supervise the noon recess in our own garden or at one of the various playgrounds close by.
Nachmittagsbetreuung nach der "Kernzeit"/After school care
Nach der Kernzeit beginnt die Nachmittagsbetreuung (bis max. 18.30 Uhr buchbar). Mit frei wählbaren Aktivitäten, Freispiel und Spielplatzbesuchen lassen wir den Tag ausklingen. Zusätzlich bieten wir wechselnde Angebote wie beispielsweise Sport, „Gut für mich und fair für alle“ (Kochen und Backen) oder kreative Angebote an. Weitere Informationen zu unseren Abholzeiten sowie neuen Angeboten erhalten Sie mit Beginn des Schuljahres.
Following the instructional day, after school care begins at 4 PM (max. until 6:30 PM). We close the day with a variety of open activities, projects, and free play, with the children often choosing what they would like to do on any given day. Ottentimes the children can choose from various GTB offerings--athletic activities, cooking and baking, creative arts and crafts, etc. The GTB always keeps parents and kids informed about new offerings and pick up times throughout the school year.
Abholzeiten Ganztagsbetreuung/Pick-up times during after school care
Ab 16 Uhr stündlich bis spätestens 18.30 Uhr/from 4 PM every hour until 6:30 PM
Abholzeiten während der Zeit der besonderen Angebote/Pick-up times during after school offerings
Bitte zwischen 16 und 17 Uhr niemanden abholen!/If your child is involved in a special after school offering or project, please avoid picking up between 4–5 PM.
Ferienbetreuung
In den Schulferien gestalten wir gemeinsam mit den Kindern unser abwechslungsreiches Ferienprogramm. Wir bieten eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen Ausflügen und Aktivitäten an, welche so nur in den Ferien stattfinden können. Die Anmeldung erfolgt über Listen und E-Mail bis zu vier Wochen vor den jeweiligen Ferien. Bei Betreuungsbedarf tragen Sie Ihr Kind dort ein. Anschließend erfolgt die Ausgestaltung des Programms, und wir informieren Sie in einem Elternbrief über die Aktivitäten. In den Ferien sind wir von 8.00–18.00 Uhr für Ihre Kinder da./
During the various school breaks the GTB along with the school children plan a varied holiday program. We offer a good number of unique field trips and activities that can only take place during a holiday break. Parents needing day care during the holidays sign their children up via posted lists in the school or email up to four weeks prior to each break. Once the registration has taken place, the GTB informs parents via letter about the exact details of the holiday program offereings. During breaks the GTB serves your children and you from 8 AM to 6 PM.
